Thermogravimetric analysis of cancellous bone of humerus head in patients undergoing total shoulder arthroplasty

چکیده
Abstract Prior to shoulder replacement, the quality of cancellous bone stock humerus head should be evaluated. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) has already been utilized assess thermal stability mineral, collected from femoral patients with osteoarthritis and osteoporosis. Our workgroup recently examined parameters rotator cuff undergoing reversed replacement. We hypothesized that TGA would indicate difference in orthopedic trauma patients. also calorimetric data could correlate grade degenerative changes. Cylindrical subchondral humeral samples were subjected replacement due or indications. Then, measured using DTA/TG analysis. Radiological evaluation was performed classify osteoarthritis. In case samples, indicated a moderate severe degree damage loss mineralization, because progressed Meanwhile, exhibited only minimal degeneration. DTA curves showed different patterns shifts transition temperatures, comparing control pathologic samples. addition, correlation found between enthalpy. marked differences Further investigation is needed differentiate layers bone.

Use of PROMIS for Patients Undergoing Primary Total Shoulder Arthroplasty
BACKGROUND The Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) consists of question banks for health domains through computer adaptive testing (CAT). HYPOTHESIS For patients with glenohumeral arthritis, (1) there would be high correlation between traditional patient-reported outcome (PRO) measures and the PROMIS upper extremity item bank (PROMIS UE) and PROMIS physical funct...
متن کاملFailure of Anatomic Total Shoulder Arthroplasty with Revision to Another Anatomic Total Shoulder Arthroplasty
Background: While outcomes of primary anatomic total shoulder arthroplasty (aTSA) are generally favorable, resultsafter revision procedures are less reliable. This study examines the functional outcomes, complications, and implantsurvival in patients who underwent revision of aTSA to aTSA.Methods: Patients who underwent revision aTSA were identified from 2008-2015. Demographic, clinical, surgic...
متن کاملBone Remodelling of the Humerus after a Shoulder Arthroplasty
In this work computational models are developed to analyze bone remodeling of the humerus after a shoulder arthroplasty using either a cemented or press-fit stem. Bone is modelled as a porous material, characterized by its local density. The bone remodelling model is based on a global optimization criterion by the minimization of a function which takes into account both structural stiffness and...
متن کاملIncreasing Use of Reverse Total Shoulder Arthroplasty for Proximal Humerus Fractures in Elderly Patients.
This study described surgical treatment patterns for proximal humerus fractures among elderly patients, focusing on reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (TSA), and evaluated how the type of fixation affects inpatient factors (cost, length of stay), transfusion rates, and patient disposition (home vs skilled nursing facility). With Nationwide Inpatient Sample data from 2011 to 2013, the authors i...
